Average Daily Count :

237,780 pedestrians, showing a healthy footfall increase compared to 233,549 in 2024 but still lower than 2023’s 276,970.

Peak Day (2025):
August 2nd saw the highest pedestrian volume, with 267,271 people – outpacing the 2024 peak of 252,073.

Lowest Day:
July 31st recorded the lowest count at 215,790, still strong for mid-week traffic.
The weekend average hit 252,694, underscoring Times Square’s continued dominance as a tourist and local attraction hub.

Average Daily Ridership on Times Square's Subway

The Times Square–42nd Street station recorded a daily average of 243,066 riders in 2024, making it the busiest station in New York City. This volume is nearly double that of Grand Central–42nd Street.In total, the Times Square district logged a massive 79.6 million riders throughout 2024, further emphasizing its critical role in the MTA network.

Historic Growth:
Since 1996, average daily ridership has increased by 46%, with the district gaining 25+ million new riders annually. The post-pandemic recovery is also notable, rising from 103,603 daily riders in 2020 to 243,066 in 2024, marking a 135% surge.
